Phil Karren currently works as GroupWise Product Manager for Novell. My background on a short form is that I've worked for 21 years in IT marketing and development, for Novell, IBM, CacheFlow as an employee, and for several clients as a freelancer, including Linux Networx, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church and Family History Department, Cisco, Novell and others.

GWAVA - CEO/CTO Co-Founder of GWAVA

Charles Taite - CEO/CTO Co-Founder of GWAVA, Charles Taite steers GWAVA's technology vision. He is the former CTO for Tobit Software of North America where he was instrumental in helping Tobit establish its technology roadmap for entering the North American market. He guides GWAVA's research and product development efforts, while overseeing GWAVA's technical services and support division. His expertise comes from a 15-year career in the networking industry, specializing in secure electronic messaging. He is a Certified Novell Engineer (CNE).

Richard Bliss - USA
VP of Marketing GWAVA

Richard Bliss has been actively involved in the messaging industry since 1989. Prior to joining GWAVA, Richard was the Director of Marketing for Novell GroupWise, a position in which he was responsible for communicating Novell's vision for its GroupWise and collaboration products. He has been the VP of Marketing for companies such as Allegro (mail.com)-a leading U.S. provider of corporate e-mail management solutions-and Sigaba, an email security company. He has written numerous articles and spoken at a host of seminars, conferences and conventions on messaging, outsourcing and e-mail security. He has also appeared in numerous magazine interviews as well as appearing on CNN.

Joe Bertnick - USA
Director Product Management GWAVA

Joe Bertnick Director, Product Management GWAVA, Mr. Bertnick manages the development of new products for GWAVA. Mr. Bertnick brings 15 years of networking, security and software experience to GWAVA. He has extensive experience in information security, hacker defense and in helping global organizations develop and implement policies and technology to secure their corporate infrastructures. Mr. Bertnick is a perennial speaker at many industry events, such as Novell's BrainShare, Blackhat, Infosec, MISTI and others. He specializes in topics focusing on developing real world solutions to secure corporate information systems.

Roel van Bueren - Netherlands
One of the Core Developers of Reveal

Roel van Bueren has been working with GroupWise since WordPerfect Office 3.1. As a consultant, trainer and author and co-founder of 'Custom-R-Tools' he likes to push GroupWise to its limits and explore its boundaries by using 3rd party solutions and by developing new ones. With Ronald de Zwart he has written GWAVA's new Reveal product. Currently Roel is working on his new book "Preparing to install, the complete guide to MSI Application Distribution in a Novell ZENworks environment

Uli Neumann - Germany
Redline Lead Developer

Ulrich's first contact with GroupWise was in the days of WordPerfect Office 3.1. He has seen all versions since these days, he has implemented many GroupWise systems and he has been developing to GroupWise since 1998. Ulrich is also a Novell SysOp and works very closely with some engineering groups in Provo. He has written several articles for Novell Appnotes in the past. Ulrich is the brain behind Redline. a Monitoring, Reporting, Alerting solution for GroupWise. He's one of the founders of "GroupWise & Friends", the german GroupWise user Group and is currently in the position as the president of G&F. Ulrich is also an "open source evangelist" who pushed open source on NetWare very hard; he has been involved in PostgreSQL and MySQL development and ported the first version of Bash to NetWare. On NetWare he has worked a lot on LibC. He's working with Linux since 1994 and is involved in the GNOME Project, especially on GNOME-Network and the Evolution mail client that can connect to GroupWise now. Ulrich has been Speaker at BrainShare in Europe and SLC. In 2001 and 2003 he has got the official "Developer SysOp Excellence Award" from Novell for all his efforts. Gregory Bell - Austrilia
CEO of Advansys

Diethmar currently works as an independent consultant. In many cases he is the main hub for GroupWise in Austria. Diethmar holds a degree in Informatics from the Johannes Kepler University in Linz. His most difficult job is being the father of two girls (Hannah - 1998 = GroupWise 5.5 and Sophie - 2002 = Prerelease of GroupWise 6.5). His hobbies are his family, music, GroupWise.

Christof Gedig - Germany

Christof Gedig has been employed by Syncsort since October 2004 and has responsibilities for selling Backup Express in Germany, Sweden and Norway. Prior to Syncsort he has been Sales Manager for the storage expert Iomega in the DACH region. He managed the reseller channel and was in charge of the project management and introducing the Iomega NAS product range to the regional market. Preceding Iomega Christof worked for a medium sized corporation as a Sysadmin and head of IT. During this time he implemented a standardized IT environment, realized and implemented a document and project management tool based on Lotus Notes. Christof holds the CLP for Lotus Notes and a MCSE.
Anthony Priestman
Novell – Technology Specialist for Workgroup, Collaboration & SRM

Anthony Priestman works as a Technology Specialist for Novell Netherlands. His main expertise is in Linux and the added Novell services on top of Linux like GroupWise, Teaming + Conferencing, eDirectory, iFolder and SRM services. He works with various companies to implement the latest services and products from Novell. Anthony also speaks at Dutch forums and shows. He started in 1989 as a support engineer for WordPerfect Netherlands. Before joining Wordperfect he was an EMEA IT Manager for various companies.
Dean Lythgoe - USA
Director of GroupWise Engineering

Dean Lythgoe is the Director of GroupWise Engineering. He has been writing/managing enterprise software for 17 years, most recently managing development of the GroupWise clients, including Windows, Linux and Mac. He has also managed the administration team, which produces the ConsoleOne plug-ins for GroupWise. Dean teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Business, Computer Science and Information Technology programs at the University of Phoenix. He holds a Masters degree in Business/Technology Management and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from Brigham Young University.

Laurence Pitt

Laurence Pitt has worked for Novell Inc. for the last eight years, initially as a consultant and more recently directly attached to the Systems and Resource Management Business Unit. His background is with desktop and datacentre management and he has nearly 20 years of industry experience.

Kai Reichert
Technology Specialist

Kai Reichert works for Novell as a Technology Specialist. Before joining Novell, he worked as an independent consultant, support engineer and trainer for medium-sized companies. Kai has also worked as a system administrator and a developer for medical database and management software. Kai has been involved with Novell technology since the release of NetWare 3.12 in 1994. He is a Certified Novell Instructor and has served as a SysOp on Novell's technical support forums.
Martin Buckley
Director of Product Management for Novell Systems and Resource Management.

In the past year Martin has been the lead evangelist and customer champion for Novell ZENworks. He has traveled across the globe working to share the vision and strategy for the next release of ZENworks Configuration Management. In addition Martin has been part of the Product Leadership Team responsible for the strategy and direction for Novell's Systems and Resource Management products - including the acquisition and release of ZENworks Asset Management; the release of ZENworks 7 Suite and the revolutionary ZENworks 7 Linux Management. Prior to this Martin held the role of Product Manager for ZENworks Linux Management and Product Manager responsible for ZENworks for Desktops. He is currently based at Novell in Utah and spends a significant amount of time working directly with customers, integrators and partners. Before becoming Product Manager, Martin was a pre-sales consultant with Novell UK. Prior to joining Novell, Martin headed a Desktop Management consulting team; specialising in all aspects of Windows workstation management using many vendors solutions. Martin is often known as the Evil ZEN Scientist. He is an avid blogger - including at Novell Cool Blogs.
Scott Brown
Senior Software Engineer, Novell

Initially hired to work on GroupWise installs, Scott joined the GroupWise team in 2000. Since then he has been involved in many aspects of GroupWise development including the Windows Client, Linux Client, Client side APIs, and the overall GroupWise build structure. He is currently working on Windows Client features and APIs to support the Linux Client. Scott holds both an MBA and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from Brigham Young University.

Casey has been with GroupLink for more than five years. Most of his experience has been centered around the I.T. Service and Support products that GroupLink markets and sells. In his tenure at GroupLink he has held many roles including Senior Account Manager, Marketing Manager, Director of Product Development (ContactWise). He is married with four children and lives in Utah.

Herbert Lefering - VP Sales, Europe
Herbert Lefering oversees GWAVA Sales and Channel Sales for Europe. Before joining GWAVA, Herbert was Distribution Sales manager for Tobit Software in Europe where he worked for 10 years in increasing positions of responsibility. He has been with GWAVA since 2002 and has grown the GWAVA channel in Europe to a significant portion of worldwide sales.

Aldo Zanoni, CEO and Managing Director, Omni Technology Solutions Inc.
Aldo has a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts degree. In addition to his current certifications, Aldo's former certifications include: Master Certified Novell Instructor and Master Certified Novell Engineer. Aldo's previous positions include being Executive Vice President and co-founder of DevStudios Inc. (DVE on the Canadian Venture Exchange) and President and co-founder of Network Learning Masters Inc., an award-winning Novell Authorized Education Center and Microsoft CTEC. Omni is focused on creating and marketing software products that provide real, tangible and valuable benefits to companies that use GroupWise, eDirectory or mixed Novell and Microsoft environments.

Volker Smid - President, Novell EMEA
Volker Smid serves as president, Novell EMEA. He is responsible for the full range of Novell's sales and consulting business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Smid was named general manager for Central Europe for Novell in May 2005, responsible for Novell's overall business in Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe. Prior to joining Novell, Smid was senior vice president, EMEA and Asia Pacific, at PTC, where he was responsible for the product life cycle and enterprise content management company's mid-market business. Smid also served as vice president for North America at POET AG, a platform provider for B2B eCommerce and supplier relationship management, and CEO of Prompt Medizinische Informationssysteme, a German software vendor.

He has an MSc in Computer Science - "Diplom- Informatiker (FH)" - from the University for Applied Sciences, Hamburg-Wedel.

Mark Schouls - ZENworks Product Manager and Evangelist
Mark has been working for Novell for over seven years now, and is a ZENworks Product Manager and Evangelist inside the Systems and Resource Management Business Unit at Novell. Mark works with a team of individuals that assists with setting the strategic direction of the ZENworks product line, and then takes the vision to masses. Prior to joining the Product Management group Mark was the Practice Lead and Principal Architect for Novell Consulting's ZENworks Practice in North America. Mark has designed and implemented some of the largest and most complex ZENworks infrastructures in North America, including some of the first in a pure Microsoft Windows environment. Mark is a regular contributor to the Novell Cool Blogs (www.novell.com/coolblogs), and speaks at many conferences and events across the globe.

Mark's teammates and other colleagues fondly refer to him as "Hollywood"... and he loves them for it.

Sam Tessier - Novell - ZENworks Technology Specialist
Sam has been with Novell for eight years, and is based in the New York City area. His primary focus is spreading the word on ZENworks to clients and partners/integrators and engaging in competitive situations. Prior to his current role, Sam worked with Novell's internal IT group managing server operations for many of Novell's field offices in North and South America.

Marc Conradty - Chief Technical Officer of Inetra Inc. Germany
As CTO, Marc is responsible for team training and all German speaking support for GWAVA and Inetra customers. Marc specializes in working with Antispam Heuristics for squeezing the last false positive email out of the GWAVA and GroupWise Policy monitoring with Redline. Marc has been working in the email industry since 1990, and began with MHS from Novell. Marc has been working since then as a consultant in planning, developing, and deploying networks. Marc is consulting IT departments in deploying and fine tuning GroupWise and GWAVA products. Marc's Background is in NetWare, Linux, eDirectory, ZENworks and BorderManager, as well as TCP/IP and Protocol understanding.

Ron Gardiner
Ron Gardiner currently works as Product Manager of Security Products for GWAVA. He has worked in the IT field for over 25 years and has an MCNE and CNI.  A former Novell Canada SE/TSA.  Ron has worked with NetWare since v2.0a, and GroupWise since v5.5 and was the GroupWise Subject Matter Expert for Novell Canada.  Ron lives in the suburbs of Montreal with his wife and 2 teenage boys, where he enjoys riding his motorcycle as well as refereeing minor hockey.

Vaclav Samsa
Vaclav has been working with Novell Inc and WordPerfect Corporation products since 1987 till today, started with NetWare ELS II and WordPerfect 4.2. Vaclav was programmer in the past, working with Fortran, C, C++, lot of assemblers, TurboPascal, lot of scripting languages. Vaclav's today focus is on GroupWise on PDA, OpenOffice-GroupWise integration, remote GroupWise management, optimizing number of MTA and POA within large WAN networks. Vaclav is founder and co-owner of TDP Ltd, established in 1989 as Trade Mark for software developing and exists from 1992 as Ltd company.
